Indian Dance Group - Review

Hi Team,

Here is a video of your (very cramped) practice in the library.

Use this as an opportunity to reflect and ask yourself what your found tricky.  At our next practice we can discuss these tricky parts and work on perfecting them.

Thanks
Miss Fortes

SNAG Golf

This term we met SNAG DOG!  He was our super awesome SNAG golf coach.

We had so much fun learning new skills like 'tick tock', drawing a line to our feet and then striking the ball to get a SNAG.   We also learned how to hold a golf club correctly.  Check out some of the pictures below.

Observation Skills in Science

We have been learning to observe different phenomena (happenings or things).  To be successful we had to use our senses (hear, see, touch and smell).  We all decided that 'taste' isn't a safe sense to use in some parts of science so we only use that sense if Miss Fortes tells us too.

We looked at a paper glider made with a straw and paper.  We had to observe this glider.

Miss Fortes said great observers get out of their seats and move around and observe from all possible angles.

When we looked closely we saw that the straw was smooth, 23 cm long and the paper had sellotape holding it on.

Mark and Jayzel feeling the texture of the straw.

Science

In O'Neill class we have an 'I wonder' table that has lots of different things on it.  We can explore and observe the different things like the phenomenal magnets and iron sand shapes and the glitter and wave bottles.  Here's some pictures of some of us and Mr Aisher with the magnets and wave bottles.

International Language Week

As part of International Language week our class thought it would be a great idea to do a mufti day where everyone can come dressed up in their own cultural clothes.

Before we did this, we wanted to know what culture means.  So we researched what culture means and we found out it is like the same as identity.  So a culture is a way of living that you identify with.

Then we made a notice to go home that said everyone can come to school in mufti that shows their culture.

Miss Fortes described our mufti day was like this.. "It was a spectacular day, full of colour, warmth and aroha.  Showing whanaungatanga and how we can be kaitiaki of our cultures".
